Survivor Support

Support for those who have experienced a death by suicide, or other forms of violent death.

The question that incessantly arises is: Why — could we, could I, have prevented it from happening? That question goes on and on, but there are other questions: How do we, the survivors, go on? How do we live beyond the death which looms so large in our lives?
Karen Kenyon, Survivor

Anyone who has lost someone close to suicide will tell you that it is the most difficult personal crisis that they have ever faced and for which they needed to find the inner resources to manage effectively.

There are no universal rituals or social conventions for supporting survivors of suicide. There are no rules that make the loss easier to bear. Often, feeling isolated, survivors grope in a dark abyss of unanswered questions and complex, painful emotions. They struggle to construct explanations and to assign responsibility in order to create some sense of order in this time of chaos.
